Our flagship store celebrating 25 years of serving the Seacoast and surrounding area in 2006. Parcel Room was started by David and Nancy Ballantyne in 1986, the first store of its kind in the north east. It took several years for the concept to catch on, once it did no one could stop the growth.
We have grown from a small operation to one of the largest shippers within the UPS / Fedex authorized shipping store systems. We realized years ago that we needed to specialize in packaging and shipping. We have done so and excelled at it, we offer our customer unparalleled packaging and shipping services. Custom packaging, wooden crates and now we have added a custom automated box making machine. We can now create custom boxes with our usual high quality but now in quantity and quickly.
Our store has grown from having one full time person to now having 7 full time staff members, a growing fleet of vehicles to allow pick ups and deliveries from small boxes to pallets requiring a truck with a lift gate. We are able to offer our customers services from simple next day air letters to truck loads of freight, we even have same day door to door services available for those items that just can't wait.
Custom Made Cartons have never been easier. We have purchased an Automated Box Making Machine, ABM60. We purchased this machine to allow us to build custom made boxes in minutes, we now make most of our large boxes right in the store. As we learned over the years the carriers do not have time to take care when handling packages, we learned that we must package the items to withstand whatever the carriers can throw at them (or throw them)
We keep our machine busy just with our own packaging needs but have also found that we are getting an increasing demand for custom made cartons. More and more customers are learning that our custom made cartons can save money. Not only with reduced shipping costs by making them as small as possible but stronger (resulting in less damages) than regular boxes by using double wall corrugated sheets.
With the New Year upon us we learned that the carriers are moving to charge for the size of the boxes not just the actual weights. With these new regulations starting with UPS on Jan 2nd, more and more boxes will be subject to what is called dimensional weight. It is more and more critical now to use cartons that fit your needs exactly rather than ship something in a too large a carton.
Visit our website page for custom cartons for more information on the different styles of boxes available.
